The future of Central Oʻahu depends on how we grow today. With Oʻahu’s finite land, we must balance housing, agriculture, infrastructure, renewable energy, and economic opportunity to build a stronger future for generations to come.
Central Oʻahu families deserve transportation access to make it easier to get to work, school, and home. That means improving connections to rail by expanding parking and access at Pearl Highlands, Waipahu, and West Loch stations, supporting responsible transit-oriented development near the rail line, and continuing to modernize the roads, highways, intersections, and transportation infrastructure our growing communities depend on.
Investing in our keiki is one of the most important investments we can make in Hawaiʻi’s future. As the daughter of educators and a proud Mililani High School graduate, Danielle believes every keiki deserves a strong start, from expanding quality early learning so children are ready for school to strengthening public education through higher education. As Koa Ridge and Central Oʻahu continue to grow, our schools must grow with them, including planning for a new Koa Ridge elementary school while continuing to invest in our classrooms, facilities, teachers, and students throughout the district.
Hawaiʻi’s ability to feed itself is fundamental to our security and resilience. Our heavy dependence on imported food leaves Hawaiʻi families vulnerable to disasters, supply chain disruptions, and rising costs. Strengthening local food production is an economic, public health, and security priority. Central Oʻahu and Kunia are vital to Hawaiʻi’s agricultural future, and Danielle has long advocated for stronger local agriculture and food production throughout her career and will continue working to strengthen Hawaiʻi’s food security.
Reliable and affordable energy is essential to our economy, quality of life, and public safety. We must strengthen and modernize Hawaiʻi’s electrical grid with reliable, firm renewable energy and resilient infrastructure to lower costs, improve energy security, reduce outages, and keep our homes, businesses, schools, water systems, emergency services, and critical infrastructure operating, especially when disaster strikes.
Strong communities depend on strong infrastructure. We must modernize aging water, wastewater, electrical, transportation, and other critical systems while helping homeowners make their own homes safer and more resilient through grants, tax credits, financing, and other incentives. Resilience starts at home and throughout our neighborhoods. We must support investing in stronger water, wastewater, and electrical infrastructure while expanding grants, tax credits, and incentives that help families protect and strengthen their homes before the next disaster.
